Barkbox Review

One thing every dog mom needs to do for their dog

It’s all about the experience

A phone is a phone is a phone.  Unless you have an Apple phone.  And then you know that owning an Iphone is all about your relationship with the phone.  From the time you unbox it, the way the Apple Store employees help you get it set up … to using it.  It’s effortless … and fun.

That’s what you get with BarkBox.  Your first interaction will probably be on their home page.  It greets you with “Congratulations … you’re a dog person.  Takes one to know one.”

Why Yes … that’s me.  Signing up is easy and then the fun begins.   The emails we received leading up to the box delivery was lighthearted and fun.  Whoever is in charge of their marketing department is truly understands what it’s like to be a dog parent.

The girls had never had a BarkBox previously.  We let them basically “have at it’ when we shot the video.  We had always known they had the ability to rip into boxes and packaging but never openly let them do it in front of us (always happened when we stepped out of the house lol).  So they kept looking at us as if … “are we even allowed to do this”.

Needless to say unboxing it was fun.

As of the time I write this post – It’s almost a month and half later and the toys are still intact.  In fact they were playing with it last night.  As for the treats, they were made from simple ingredients and they enjoyed it.  They didn’t break out into any rashes either (with my allergic dogs I do have to be mindful of what I give them).

Is Barkbox Worth It?

Someone asked me “well is it worth it?” and I had to respond “Define worth?”  And I say this because time is money and having a curated box of treats and toys delivered to me was “worth it” because I didn’t have to go out and do it myself.  The biggest currency right now isn’t always financial it’s time.

  • If I had to go around and find these toys it would take time – to have it arrive in a box saves me time.
  • The toys last! When I see the toys are still intact and they are still playing with it … then it’s worth it.  Toys don’t last long in our house.  With two dogs they love to play tug and invariably the toys do get torn apart.  But these haven’t – 6 weeks later so I’m pretty happy about that.

Update to the post 3 months later August 8, 2017

The BarkBox Toys are Still Intact

BarkBox claims to have toys for the avid chewer.  My two Boston Terriers LOVE to play tug and they LOVE to chew on things.  In any event the toys we received in the box as well as the Bento Box slipper stuffie – is still intact.  So that’s a good sign.  Typically if a toy can last 3 months in my house I gave it 5 stars.

Disclaimer:  We were sent the box of toys to sample and provide an honest opinion.

And in case you haven’t seen this video …. this basically sums it up as to what type of Dog Mom would enjoy the BarkBox for their dog.
