The Hero’s Journey
You watch TV right? So you have the shows and the commercials. The programming is always skewed more towards the programming content with the hopes we’ll stay around long enough to watch the commercials.
Same thing with Instagram. The cute posts and stories you were posting on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday was your programming and Thursday is when you’re doing your commercials.
I’ve heard it referenced that your blog is your fire and your social media is your gasoline.
Today your goal is to drive the reader from your social media to click through to your blog post.
The way to do that is to create a post that talks about your Hero’s Journey. This is to carry your viewer to feel as if you encountered the same problems they have but the difference is you found a solution to it.
One of the AHA moments I had when reading The Story Brand by Donald Miller is that my role is not the Hero in the story but rather the guide. The Hero is the reader. They need to feel that by listening to the lessons and advice given … they become the Hero in that story.
