Boston Terrier celebrates her third birthday at the Pasea Hotel – Huntington Beach CA

Orbit turns 3 years old – let’s celebrate at the Pasea Hotel

Dogcations are when we dog mommas take our fur babies on vacations.  And if you want to make it extra special it’s during their birthday.  That’s just what we did when we stayed at the Pasea Hotel in Huntington Beach CA to celebrate my dog Orbit’s 3rd birthday!

She’s special.  She deserves it.  And so do I!

I’ve lived in Southern California for thirty one years but I have never actually “vacationed” in Huntington Beach.  When the hotel let invited us to experience their resort for a “Dogcation” I quickly said yes.

Pasea Hotel, Huntington Beach

This luxury resort features 250 rooms steps away from the iconic Huntington Beach.  Located 75 miles north of San Diego and 45 miles south of Los Angeles it’s the perfect dream beach location.

Dog Friendly Rooms at Pasea Hotel, Huntington Beach

Huntington Beach is the perfect place to vacation if you seek sun, sand, and beach attractions.  Each dog friendly room comes with an in-room bed, food and water bowls, a dog treat welcome amenity.

Up to two dogs can stay with a $150 non-refundable dog deposit taken at registration.

We stayed in an ocean view room #723 on the south side of the resort.  LOVED the room and the views.  We are early risers often getting up before the sun is up so being on this side of the property meant we could enjoy the sunrise.

For those that want to upgrade you can reserve an ocean front room or penthouse suite.

Favorite things about the room

Hands down the views.  And the different shades of blue that the sky and ocean turned.  We found ourselves taking sunrise walks and then coming back to the room to enjoy the rest of the morning by ordering room service.  And when I say we it was me and the two dogs.  So I ordered room service and they lounged and took sun naps.

Other notable points:

  • Towels were super soft
  • The bathroom amenities smelled divine.  No need for you to pack your shampoo, conditioner or lotion.
  • The lighting.  They had different settings for night lights and mood lights.

You will however want to pack your own blow dryer if you want something more powerful than the standard hair dryer.

Food at Pasea Hotel

I packed the two pups their meals.  I cook for them so it was nice to be able to just store their breakfast and dinners in the in room fridge.

As for myself … I loved the property so much I never left.  I had all intentions in exploring the nearby restaurants but I honestly didn’t want to venture too far when everything was so comfortable at the resort.

For breakfast I ordered French Toast Nutella and then also Eggs Benedict.  Maggie was eyeing them both and Orbit swiped my whipped cream when I wasn’t looking.

But the best part was Tanner’s Tree House Lounge where I practically ate all my other meals.  The vibe was lounge + vibrant with a DJ playing in the background.

The best part was they were dog friendly.

Dog Activities at Pasea Hotel

There was a dog fashion show the Saturday we were there.  We attended to support our friends who were either judging or participating.

And then for breaks we went to the hotel’s Dog Friendly playground offering over 1,100 feet where the pups could run leash free.

While passing through the lobby be sure to pass by their cafe to pick up a coffee for yourself and a puppicino for the pups.

The highlight of our mornings was walking to the off leash dog friendly part of Huntington Beach.  It’s 1.65 miles away from the resort and the best part is you have another 1+ miles of sand dedicated for dogs.

It was pretty quiet when we went.  In fact it rained on the way back one of the mornings but we didn’t mind.  We’ve heard that the beach can get very busy so if you go peak season check with your concierge for the best times to go.

Also next to the resort is the retail center called “Pacific City”.  We enjoyed walking around there popping in and out of the stores.

What to pack for your dog friendly vacation at Pasea Hotel

The girls have their own luggage.  I tried to pack light but ended up filling it with different wardrobe changes.  I’m super glad we did because we got soaking wet one of the mornings we were there.

Other things on our packing list:

Camera Gear

Conclusion

We loved our stay so much we’d be happy to go back.  I’d also stay on this same side of the resort.  Although perhaps maybe having a room closer to the water might be the only change.

Taking a vacation with your dogs is the best experience when you want to get away but don’t necessarily want to vacation with another human being because let’s face it – dogs are better company!
